The world of Hipp! is populated by shrewd creatures and striking patterns, all designed by Julia Nielsen to adorn you and your surroundings. The foundations of Hipp! were layed in 2003 in London, where graphic designer and illustrator Julia started making flamingo earrings out of colourful scraps of leather and selling them in Spitalfields market. The company was founded in 2006, after Julia had moved back to her native Sweden and started to expand the range of handmade leather jewellery with cards and eventually many more products.
Hipp! sells wholesale to around 200 independent design, interior decoration and fashion shops, museum/gallery shops and department stores in 20 countries worldwide. Among our retailers are the MoMa shops in New York, the Tate Gallery shop and Liberty's in London and NK, Designtorget and Liljevalchs Gallery in Stockholm.
The main part of our products are made in Sweden, Germany and the UK. We strive to work in an ethical and environmentally friendly way. The Hipp! team assemble all jewellery by hand in our studio in Gröndal, Stockholm.
Hipp! regularly exhibits at international design and retail shows including Maison et Objet in Paris and Pulse in London. The Hipp! booth won the award 'Best Discovery' at Maison et Objet in Paris in January 2014.
Alongside Hipp!, Julia also works as a freelance illustrator and designer and has designed book covers for MacMillan and Oxford University Press as well as products for Designtorget. To contact Julia about commissioned work, please email email@example.com
Our Stockholm Sofo shop is now closed due to Hipp! embarking on a greater adventure in the summer of 2016: becoming parents.
The shop was the one 'most worth a visit' in Sofo according to both New York Times and Vogue France. Our aim in 2017 is to make our this webshop and our upcoming social media sites just as attactrive to visit!
